Traditional forms of clothing collection did not give you option to add GIFT AID to your clothing donation. 1step2be ensure that all donations are eligible for GIFT AID. 1step2be does not charge any fees or commission so 100% of your donation will go to your chosen campaign.
GIFT AID enables registered charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, in this way, UK taxpayers can effectively increase the amount donated by opting to add GIFT AID to their donation.
GIFT AID is only available to UK taxpayers and whose total donations to charity in a given tax year does not exceed four times the amount paid to the tax office in the last tax year. Each 1step2be donation is eligible for GIFT AID, but not every taxpayer is entitled to GIFT AID at any given time. To make sure you are currently eligible for Gift Aid, please read the full list of guidelines and detailed conditions on the HMRC website.
GIFT AID allows charities to claim back the basic rate tax of 20% on your donation, however higher rate taxpayers pay 40% tax. Therefore, if you’re a higher rate taxpayer, you are able to claim back the difference between the basic rate of tax and the higher rate of tax you actually pay. If you believe you’re eligible for this, head to the HRMC website to find out more about income tax rates.
